A-1 is a relatively unknown up and comer from the Bay Area, but this free mixtape is filled with some really creative jams and inventive sample selections. You see, the whole thing is comprised of samples from his favorite childhood shows (some shit represented: The Price Is Right, Pokemon, Doug, Family Matters, All That!, Goosebumps, and yes…Golden Girls). I know it sounds sort of gimmicky and novel, but thing is…A-1 pulls it off. So much more than some nostalgia cash-in, ‘After School Special’ is just a really good hip hop album. A-1 can actually spit and the samples are well utilized and put together. He transcends what could be a really corny idea and makes something really fun and legitimately hot. I hope he comes up with a follow up soon. Themes I would like to see utilized: Thundercats, X-Men, and Batman: TAS. PLEASE A-1 !

Probably the most anticipated documentary in a long time (at least by me anyway). Actor Michael Rappaport gets behind the camera to direct this Nas (Yes Nasir Jones) produced bio about the influential group from Queens. With commentary from ?uestlove & The Roots, Kanye West, De La Soul, Large Professor and more.

Shout out the homie Safe on the heads up.

It’s about time, both have struggled to put out decent mixtapes (Drama more than Cannon of course). Now lets hope this reconciliation train stops by Young Jeezy. The 2 worked out their differences during the making of Young Chris’ The Re-Introduction.

“Dram called my phone and was like, ‘Let’s go sit down,’ ” Cannon told MTV News. “We sit down, and before you even know it, we didn’t even have to explain it to each other. We were like, ‘Let’s get it together. You got your thing going on. I got my thing going on.’
