The label, currently home to acts such as KRS-ONE & BUCKSHOT, 9th Wonder, B-Real of Cypress Hill, Sean Price, Kidz In The Hall, Skyzoo, Smif N Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik, Marco Polo, Torae, Ruste Juxx, DJ Revolution, Team Facelift, Blue Scholars and more, is continuing to thrive in the Independent Hip-Hop scene.

To highlight the 15 year milestone, Duck Down is engaging YOU THE FAN, to help in deciding the final product for the commemorative album – 15 Years of Duck Down Music.

There, you’ll find a list of the top songs released through Duck Down, beginning in 1995 through 2010. Fans can vote for their favorite song from each year. The song with the most votes from each year will be highly recommended to be included in the final album track listing.

On July 13th, just after INDEPENDENCE DAY, the collector’s item will be made available strictly as a physical CD. Fans can expect unique packaging in honor of this historic album.

The other night Alicia Keys touched down at the 1st Mariner Arena for the latest show on her Freedom tour. While at the Arena she received a cake commissioned by the arena for her, which was designed by Tavares M Evans, a rising cake designer in the DMV area. The cake had a radio inside of it that played Alicia’s songs and peep the NY hat uptop. Over the last two months [Retro Electro] DJ/Producer Darvin Silva, and New York City rapper T.Shirt have been working on their full and realized debut EP together, “Tan-Face Children”. The name derives from the opening line of the famous Walt Whitman poem “Pioneers! O Pioneers!” where the poet beckons the burning youth “Come my tan-face children”. He’s speaking of the Western world, the youth of a generation working in the sun for long hours thus becoming, “tan-faced”. It’s a poetic and just way to describe the hard-working famous kids from Queens.

The chemistry in the music is electrifying. While only scratching the surface of their combined sound in the last 8 years, the close friends have put out “about 5, or 6 records”, both on original production, and unsanctioned, worldly remixes. Darvin’s penchant for finding the “dirty, rap shit” in say, a mid-tempo french house song is as strong as can be. It is said that where T.Shirt thrives is where he’s allowed to be different, finding new flows, and concepts. That’s exactly the type of platform working with a talent like Darvin Silva brings. Where else can you find a gifted and gritty New York rapper spitting verses on one of the hardest beats you ever heard, by France’s own Mr. Oizo. It’s never been done.

“Tan-Face Children”, the debut EP by T.Shirt & Darvin Silva will be released world-wide on Tuesday March 9th, 2010. The project, is presented for the first time in conjunction with the Connoisseurs Of Culture, a progressive media collective comprised of TheCouchSessions, DifferentKitchen and Pleasedontstare.com

Digital-only copies of “Tan-Face Children” will be available free of charge, through www.illrapper.com and www.darvinsilva.com
