The Connoisseurs Of Culture Presents J. Nolan – Preparation

We’re back! The Connoisseurs Of Culture return with this latest track from J. Nolan off his upcoming project Broken Dreams. This is one of those tracks that you can wake up to every morning, the beat reminds me of some classic Native Tongues music, while J describes what it takes to make it in the game, or at least the preparation he’s put into the process. If you’re still asking what The Connoisseurs Of Culture are it’s a conglomerate consisting of PDS, The Couch Sessions, and A Different Kitchen. We look to bring forth artists that we feel are pushing the envelope in terms of the music they are making and more so of the vibe that they project. J Nolan is the latest in a line of artists that has included T. Shirt, Darvin Silva, and Mix Mason. Look for more from us in the coming months. Look for the entire J. Nolan project on August 16th.

PDS 1min Review: Big Boi – ‘Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty’

Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty

This could actually be a one second review: IT BANGS!

I had to delay this review so that I could separate myself from my unabashed love of all music by OutKast (yes, even Idlewild). That wait actually allowed me to discover new gems with each listen. I was immediately drawn to Shutterbugg and General Patton but You Ain’t No DJ produced by Andre 3000 is a certified banger.  Songs such as The Train pt2. and Follow Us (feat. Vonnegut) had their dopeness creep up on me. Even the interludes prove to be pretty entertaining, although I don’t understand why anyone would ever want to pull a David Blaine on a chick, but to each his own.

PDS Exclusive: Midian – Love Won’t Let You Leave (Live At Sutra Lounge)

I shot this a few weeks ago when Midian made her debut performance at Sutra, but decided to post it since she will be returning to grace the stage tonite. If you are in the DMV then you need to come out to Sutra Lounge 2406 18th St Washington DC NW. You’ll be able to tell your kids you saw her before she was a superstar.

PDS EXCLUSIVE: Diddy Says Rick Ross Is The Biggie Of The South, Speaks On His Partnership With Jay Electronica

Diddy, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled held a conference call to discuss the Teflon Don album and yours truly took the opportunity to question Diddy about his relationship with Mr. More Interviews Than Music aka Jay Electronica. The best part to me is Diddy catching himself before he decides if he should continue sonning me or answer the question. In the second part of the audio he says that he feels that Rick Ross is the Biggie Of The South. I guess he forgot about Scarface, Andre 3000, Big Boi, Cee- Lo, Lil Wayne, and even Jay Electronica himself. I’m not even saying that Rick Ross isn’t one of the best right now, but to call him the Biggie of the South is ridiculous considering Biggie put out two classic albums, while Ross has yet to produce even one LP that can equal either of them.

Drake – Up All Night & Fancy (Clean Edits)

Unless you’re just getting back from Pluto then you know that Drizzy’s album leaked all over the place last night. The homie DJ Analyze went and chose what he thought were the best cuts and edited them for radio play. No more leaks from the album but since these are edited I guess we can let you have them.  PDS exclusive and all that. Above is the artwork for the 9 AM in Dallas freestyle which you can get when you purchase the album on Itunes June 15th. Thanks to ATF.

PDS 1minute Review: Drake – ‘Thank Me Later’

Well I don’t know if I will be ‘thanking’ Drake for that joint.

Maybe after another few listens I’ll send him a post-card or something.  The album is cool and not ‘HOT Gah-bige‘ but definitely didn’t hit to me like So Far Gone and his other mixtapes did.  Truly a different sound sonically but too many similar sounding tracks in my opinion.  Nothing that just stood out and hit me.  Really starts picking up once it gets to ‘Over’ (and initially it took ‘Over’ a minute for me to really appreciate) but it just never develops any strong momentum, I think I sleptwalk through about two songs after the Nicki Minaj featured piece.

So Drake may win on that one because that’s something I have always attributed to OutKast, the ability to bend listeners to their sonic style.  The jury is still out to me on whether or not Drake managed to achieve that though, cuz even at their worst ‘Kast is always able to maintain my attention.

Weigh in with your thoughts PDSers.

PDS EXCLUSIVE: Rick Ross – SuperHigh & Oh Let’s Do It (Live At Ibiza May 20th, 2010)

Told you we had some more footage for you. Not done either check back a lil later for some more from this crazy show. Is it me or this single not doing the damage that it’s supposed to be doing? I love Super High but it doesn’t seem like people are really rocking with it. After the jump he crushes his verse on Oh Let Do It. Bawse.

PDS EXCLUSIVE: T-Pain, Rick Ross & DJ Khaled – All I Do Is Win (Live At Ibiza May 20th 2010)

Last night Ricky Rose, T-Pizzle, and Khaled made a stop through Ibiza Nightclub and you know we were in the building to capture the mayhem. Watch when Ross steps from backstage for his verse. Pure pandemonium. We got more footage coming from the show but you just gotta wait a bit for that. Bawse.

EVENTS: Midian - Live At Sutra Lounge (Monday May 3rd, 2010)
