This sucks beyond belief. This mixing is bad and the encoding is crap. And you have the nerve to run your shitty ‘DJ this’ and ‘DJ that’ promos overtop the songs, as if someone else would ever try to take credit for this mess…LOL.
Damn homie seriously? Id like to know what you thought of my mixes which you can grab to the right of us by clicking but really? You didnt leave a email to even reply to. You sound scared to me.
Ya, I’m sorry–I didn’t like your’s much better. I guess I am more a fan of beat-matched mixes rather than quick fades from song to song. And I am really really really not a fan of the constant DJ name drops or website plugs dropped into every song. Add the website link into your mp3 tags and be done with the self-promotion. Let the work speak for itself. I will say I liked your tracklist for your ‘pump your fist’ session–it was a nice choice of songs, just not mixed together very well. Keep working at it, though–enthusiasm and a love for the music is a big half the battle.
Well thanks for taking the time out to listen but you are the first person Ive heard say that. All of my mixes are done live in pretty much one take with turntables and a mixer and blended together so I dunno what type of beat matching you want. If you prefer super long blends then maybe I understand and I feel you different styles of mixing for different folks. The only one I would do longer blends on is the pump ya fist and house type mixes as I dont like long blends on hip hop mostly. Even though as far as most of these mixes at some point on every one I do a long blend. more than once.
As far as name and website drops Ive been doing cds long enough to have people sell me my own ish walking down the street when I didnt put my name on it so I cant really agree with you there. I dont put them throughout the cd nor do I yell and scream like a Clue or other djs who dont mix.
Id like to hear who you think is good, cuz while I dont think Im the best I know these cds are sick.
or really Bent Id like to hear a mix by you.
ya i get it, you’re old school–and that’s great, more power to you. i’m just not a hip hop fan really…i found the sade mix by googling for new sade and i downloaded it, expecting a beatmatched dance type of mix. beat-matching is blending 2 songs together perfectly so you can’t really hear where one ends and the other begins. that’s what i enjoy. obviously this isn’t what you do and i shouldn’t really compare your mixes to dance mixes, so that’s my bad. as far as the self-promotion, and all the drops inserted into the mixes, that’s just kinda silly. you didn’t actually create any of the music, you just compiled a playlist basically–so what exactly are you taking credit for? choosing some cool songs? why does that merit your name plastered all over it? you’re worried about other people bootlegging your bootlegs??? LOLz. i’m not here to promote myself, and i don’t DJ under the name bent, so i’m not gonna link u to my stuff–but ya, i do my own mixes…its club/dance type stuff. they’re not done live with turntables. its all done on computer in adobe audition. i spend days, a week sometimes working on a mix, and actually doing my own remixes/mashups of songs. but i give u props for doing one take mixes using 2 turntables and a mixer. but really, unless you’re mixing this live in a club, there’s no reason why you have to do live mixes in one take. to each their own though. and you certainly have more fans and listeners than i do, so i’ma shut up now.
Id actually like to hear your mixes I dont knock any style of mixing and as far as my dance mixes I want more beat matched mixes. And yes for the drops yes compiling and mixing a cool playlist does take talent and skill not just anyone can do it, so yeah I do need to have drops, plus I want people to know where they can get it from. We are building this site from the ground up so we need promotion in any way shape or form. I listen to and make mixes of all kinds of mixes and trust i dont like the drops anymore than you do. I try and keep them limited and just enough to get the point across.
Now like I say the Adobe Audition thats cool I do some more complicated stuff in Adobe Live like the mix Im about to do but I just find it more fun and challenging I guess to do it live. Also I dont always have time to do a mix in a week. But thats also kind of cheating to me. Its mad easy to do beatmatched mixes on a computer. But like I say send me a couple at pleasedontstare@gmail.com
ya, it’s much easier to beatmatch on computer than doing it live, because u can do retake after retake until u get it right–which i do a lot of. also, looping and adding effects is a big part of my mixing style, which u need a computer to do. is it cheating? ya maybe it is…but why fight technology?
it’s studio mixing vs live mixing–the studio mix is gonna sound tighter than the live mix. But I do respect you for doing live mixing on turntables. Sort of a dying art to be sure. and though i’ll probably regret it, i’ll send u some links…
Found this while looking for a completely different topic. ALmost all links are down because of recent events with megaupload. Anyone have a way for me to listen to this?
