This is an indie dance mix about boy meets girl. You should know upfront, it’s not all love songs. Featuring music by Feist, Kimbra, LCD Soundsystem, Atrak, & M83

You already know DJ Franchise is family, so anytime he drops some new music it’s going to get some love over here. Peep his new website and then bump this whenever you need to get a party started, or as he describes above whenever you need to hear some songs that will help you when you’ve got those feelings in your stomach from a new crush. You know kind of how I feel whenever I see your sister.

Some say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. On his second single from ‘Candy Cigarettes’, Brian Ennals tackles this myth by switching focal points in the relationship. “When You Wake Up” is a testimony of the male ego coping with heartbreak. Pain, anger, and resentment commandeer Brian’s emotions over soulful cries produced by M-Lito. The outcome? A melodramatic reflection of a hurt man with an empty heart.

Brian Ennals returns with this offering on the perils and trials that we all go through in a relationship. When You Wake Up examines relationships from all sides with Ennals using a much more energetic flow then was seen on his first single Newport Music. This actually dropped yesterday but seeing as most of us are dealing with the after effects of Valentines Day I figure now is the best time for this joint right here.

It’s time.

I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have.
Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .

Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..

The wait is over.

Truly Yours,

Born Sinner

PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.

1. Can I Holla At Ya

It’s the Box That Rocks! Ralph McDaniels, founder of the seminal Video Music Box talks thirty years of history. Highlights include how Big Daddy Kane shot someone causing him to miss “The Symphony” video shoot, how we wasn’t fucking with Mr. Magic at first, gunplay at NaS’s “It Ain’t Hard To Tell” video shoot, running with a young and grimy Russell Simmons, allowing a young Jay-Z to play hype man for the Notorious B.I.G. and how really good he is in these streets. This is #RapHistoryMonth b. #Newmanati.

Another classic episode of the Combat Jack Show, you’ve already read the description so just know that I played a mean 50 Cent set to celebrate the tenth anniversary of GRODT and a Bob Marley set in honor of what would have been the great legend’s sixty eighth birthday. Get the downloads below.

Due to popular demand (and a last minute cancellation by Brooklyn’s own Joey BadA$$ and Dyme-A-Duzin) there were no special guests on this week’s show—but we did get to have the Cheat Code Just Blaze call in to talk about his current smash hit “Higher” with Baauer, Dallas Penn recapped his LoEnd Theory event, we got to interview two new potential interns and delivered a hilarious prank call to Premium Pete’s aunt, in which the cable company encourages her to start watching BET. Plus, DJ Benhameen continues to kill with his mixes. It don’t ever stop. #Newmanati!

As always make your momma proud and subscribe to The Combat Jack Show on Itunes. Show the world she didn’t raise an idiot.
